Last of south west WA to the Nullarbor.......

Some tree climbing, the south coast to the Nullarbor………

As I type these words we have just over two and a bit weeks until we are home………noooooo. Oh well all good things have to come to an end. Unfortunately lady luck has certainly packed her bags and left us which has meant yet more delay. A complete head replacement on our ute-Nelly. Needless to say it was expensive however after two weeks of delay the company who supplied the wrong radiator in the first place did pay for $3500.00 of a $5000.00 repair.
We are now between Cape Legrand and Cape Arid NP’s which are east of Esperance. We are camped here for two nights and will celebrate Jack & Flynn’s eighth birthday before heading towards Norseman and the start of the Nullarbor. Unfortunately there will be very little time for much exploring of the Eyre & York Peninsulas in South Australia. However as a friend said to me recently…..they are not going anywhere. Profound logic! Please read on for a bit more of an insight into what we have seen on this stunning South coast of WA…….

Conquering the three climbing trees of Pemberton………Finally

It was with great trepidation we travelled back through this area on our way to Walpole. I had a mission to climb the last two of the three Karri trees which got cut short following the tree branch crashing through our camper.

Bush fires to stunning Denmark & surrounds……..

On our way to Greg & Karen’s block in Denmark where we planned to camp for a few days we drove through some of the aftermath of the recent bush fires between Northcliffe & Walpole. The area was being cleared of dangerous trees damaged from fires and spot fire management was still in full swing which made for some interesting scenes…….scary stuff. We camped for two nights near Pemberton (with no threatening trees!) and enjoyed the Big Brook Damn.

During negotiations with the car repair our digs on Greg & Karen’s Denmark block were fantastic. We were really central for some great exploring. Our neighbours were professional musicians-The Outback Gypsies. Dell and Andrea were beautiful people with whom we enjoyed some social activities including some bowls & croquet fun. We actually went to see one of their local gigs where they perform at a posh local restaurant in Albany. Thanks for all the fun guys and good luck with your move to Northern NSW. I think the following images give an insight into what the area offers-naturally raw and stunning.

Esperance to the start of the Nullarbor……..

From Demark we travelled on to the eventual start of our Nullarbor crossing. Unfortunately time is not on our side but we still managed to explore a bit of Esperance and the coast beyond before we returned to Esperance and headed off to Norseman and the Nullarbor crossing. East of Esperance is Fitzgerald NP where we found Cape Ann which again is pretty easy on the eye and is the southerly end of the old rabbit proof fence. Then it was on to Cape Legrand & Cape Arid……again I will let the images tell the storey.
